What is
The Conjurer’s
Collection?
“The art of the magician is to create wonder.”
- Doug Henning
The Collection is an intimate and immersive mystery game, set during the Golden Age of Magic and Illusion. Take a glimpse into the lives of Harry Houdini, Adelaide Herrmann, George Melies, and many more, whilst deciphering clues, exploring magical props and artefacts, and solving all manner of puzzles to unravel the mysteries of The Collection.
Who can play?
The game is suitable for between 2 and 16 players and has been designed for adults but would also be accessible for children aged 8 and over if part of a family gathering. The game has been played by hen parties, birthday guests, at family gatherings, and by escape room enthusiasts.
Under certain circumstances it may be possible to accommodate larger groups but please get in touch to discuss this further.
Where can I experience The Collection?
The Collection can be set up at your own house or venue of your choosing, UK wide.
All that is required is a suitable sized room for the number of players. A room with a large table is useful but tables can be provided if necessary.
How long does it take to play?
Playing time is typically between 60-90 minutes regardless of the number of players due to the modular nature of The Collection.
Please note that timings are relaxed and you are not under a time pressure to complete the game in 1 hour.
How to book an appointment?
Simply follow the link below to our appointments page where you can choose a date and time suitable for you and your guests. Enquiries for booking The Collection with any additional packages, such as a private magic performance can be made here too.
In addition to the Collection, yours hosts, Wilder & Associates are adept conjurers themselves so also offer their theatrical services for your enjoyment should you desire a magical parlour show to delight your friends and guests.
Who are Wilder & Associates?
A law firm shrouded in mystery, for one thing they only seem to have one client…the Illusionist. It is unclear whether they are lawyers first and conjurers second, or vice versa. We will leave that for you to decide.
What is a parlour show?
Inspired by the Victorian era of entertainment, a parlour show is simply a theatrical performance in your own home (a parlour or drawing room is not required). We specialise in the performance of magic, thus a “magical parlour show”. You provide the space and we will build the theatre.
How long is a show?
Our parlour shows typically last 45 minutes to an hour depending on your requirements.
Who are the shows suitable for?
Our shows have something for everyone, and aimed at either an adult audience or a family audience, including visual magic, sleight of hand, comedy and mind reading.
You mentioned there are different types of shows…?
Yes.
‘Artifice’ is an “at the table” close up magic show suitable for between 5-20 guests. Guests are seated around a large card table and witness sleight of hand and mind reading right before their eyes and often in their own hands.
‘Parlour Tricks’ is a stand up show suitable for 15-50 guests. This is a more whimsical and relaxed show with comedy, mind reading, and visual magic suitable for larger gatherings.
“Fundamentally an incredible evening of entertainment, there is NOTHING like this and I cannot recommend this enough. ”
“It was a real sense of achievement when we managed to open that final lock! I would jump at the opportunity to do this again, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!”
“The ingenuity in design with a great range of challenges and problems made it one of the best nights out/in I’ve had in ages. Brains, hands, locks, lights, music… thoroughly recommend it!”
“What a totally different evening to anything I have done before but really enjoyed it and everybody was saying afterwards how good it was and that they would love to do it again!! 100% recommended!!”
“The whole experience begins as soon as the props were brought in, with my humble home turning into a conjurer’s playground. Each prop, beautifully made, made me want to work that little bit harder to solve the next one. The time, effort and thought that’s gone into this event really shows through, and to be honest, left me in awe of its craftsmanship, individuality and ingeniousness.”
